ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA)

Regional · Active

AFTA was established to increase ASEAN's competitive advantage as a production base and to promote regional integration. The Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT) scheme reduces or eliminates tariffs on goods traded among member states. Malaysia has been a key participant since the framework was adopted in 1992, with tariff liberalisation largely complete for most product lines.

ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA)

Regional · Active

ACFTA creates one of the world's largest free trade areas. It covers trade in goods, services, and investment. Tariff reduction and elimination are implemented under the Agreement on Trade in Goods; Malaysia benefits from preferential access for key exports including palm oil, rubber, and electronics.

Malaysia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (MJEPA)

Bilateral · Active

MJEPA is a comprehensive bilateral agreement covering trade in goods, services, and investment. It provides for tariff elimination or reduction on most goods, with special provisions for sensitive sectors. The agreement has strengthened supply chain links between Malaysia and Japan.
